The San Antonio River Walk is a public park that runs through downtown San Antonio. The River Walk is the second most visited attraction in the state, only second to the Alamo! Over 26 million people visit the city each year and flock to the River Walk. It is lined with individual businesses and is known for its fine restaurants, hotels, culture, shopping, nightlife, and entertainment.
The King William District is a 25-block area near downtown on the south bank of the San Antonio River. In the late 1800s the King William District was the most elegant residential area in the city. In 1967, the King William District was designated as the first Historic Neighborhood District in Texas.
The San Antonio Arts District, known to most as Southtown, is home to contemporary art and historic neighborhoods. Southtown is gaining notoriety: the popular southern area of downtown is home to art galleries and festivals, eclectic shops, and gourmet eateries. Here you will find historic homes, converted warehouses, and artistic lofts.
