Terrell Hills is an upscale community in the central-Northeast area of town - between downtown and the airport, bordering Fort Sam. It is surrounded by the equally upscale communities of Alamo Heights and Olmos Park. These three communities make up the "Tri-City Area". Terrell Hills is a city within San Antonio, with a mayor, city council, and city manager.
Terrell Hills was founded by Dr. Frederick Terrell, the mayor of San Antonio in 1919, when he sold the land to a group of wealthy businessmen who then installed basic utilities and municipalities. It wasn't until 1957 that Terrell Hills became a city in the state of Texas.
Real estate in Terrell Hills is amongst the most expensive in the San Antonio area and is comparable with some of the priciest real estate in the entire state. The home price ranges from $300,000 to over $5,000,000. There are condos, townhomes, and rentals available in and around Terrell Hills, too.
Terrell Hills is serviced by two prominent school districts - Alamo Heights Independent School District and North East Independent School District. The majority of the students will attend Howard Early Learning Center, Woodridge, Alamo Heights Junior School, and Alamo Heights High School, in the AHISD.
